How to Sell Digital Products on Instagram (Without a Website)

Digital products are a creator-friendly business model: make the product once, keep delivery costs low, and earn from each sale. You don't need a website, Shopify store, or developer to sell on Instagram. You need a product, a payment account, and one link in your bio. Here's the playbook.

Step 1: Pick a product your content already proves you can make

The best first product is an extension of what people already follow you for:

  • Photographers / videographers: preset packs, LUTs, editing guides
  • Designers: templates, icon sets, font pairings, portfolio teardowns
  • Fitness / food creators: workout programs, meal plans, recipe collections
  • Educators & coaches: workbooks, study guides, mini-courses, checklists
  • Musicians / producers: sample packs, project files, tab books

Rule of thumb: if a question keeps appearing in your DMs and comments, package the answer as your first product.

Step 2: Set up payments you actually control

Choose a payment method you can use in your country and test the buyer flow before launch. knit.bio supports a connected Stripe or Razorpay account for native checkout, depending on availability; PayPal.Me and UPI send buyers to an external payment flow and need your own payment confirmation and delivery process. knit.bio takes no platform commission on store sales, but payment-provider fees, taxes, and any applicable subscription still matter. See payment setup for the current options.

Step 3: Build the page that does the selling

Put your link-in-bio page in a prominent profile-link position. If your plan includes the store, give the product a real pitch on that page, not just a button:

  • A specific name: "35 Moody Lightroom Presets for Street Photography" is clearer than "My Presets"
  • Proof: show before-and-after images, a sample page, or a 30-second preview video
  • A price with a reason: anchor it with a comparison, such as "less than one hour of 1-on-1 editing help"
  • One page, one priority: while you're launching, put the product at the very top of your page

On knit.bio, the store starts with Link Pro or Creator Pro, which support up to 10 products; Link Studio and Creator Studio support unlimited products. See pricing and the signup page for the current trial offer before building your funnel around a plan feature.

Step 4: Let delivery run itself

The part people over-engineer. When a buyer pays, they should receive a secure download link automatically. A promise to email it within 24 hours limits sales to your inbox speed. knit.bio handles file hosting, secure links, and order receipts, so you can focus on making a good product.

Step 5: Drive traffic like a launch, not a link dump

  • Tease before you sell. Show the product being made. Ask which of two covers people prefer. By launch day the audience feels invested.
  • Say "link in bio" out loud. In Reels, in captions, in Stories with the link sticker. Every post about the product should end with the same instruction.
  • Pin the proof. Pin your best product-related post to your grid; it sells while you sleep.
  • Use launch pricing honestly. A real early-supporter price with a real end date. A countdown block above the buy button makes the deadline visible.
  • Follow up in DMs. Answer every product question personally; early buyers become your testimonials.

Step 6: Read the numbers, then iterate

Your page analytics tell you where the funnel leaks. Lots of profile visits but few page views? Your bio's call to action may be weak. Views but no product taps? Improve the pitch. Taps but no purchases? Review the price, proof, or trust signals. Fix one stage at a time. Our conversion guide covers each step.

Start smaller than feels comfortable

Your first product doesn't need to be a masterpiece. A focused, useful, fairly priced product this month beats a perfect one next year. Package something your audience already asks for, put it behind one clear link, and let the page do the work. Create your page free and start taking orders this week.
